Since 2023, Danyella Berry, clinician, has operated a private mental health practice serving individuals and families in Mississippi, Louisiana, Massachusetts and Alabama, which has given deeper insight into the urgent and growing need for accessible mental health resources especially for individuals who are uninsured or underinsured.

In response to this need, we founded the Beyond the Brokenness Mental Wellness Foundation. Our mission is to provide compassionate, personalized and evidenced-based mental health care to individuals struggling with life challenges. We want to empower individuals to health, grow and regain control of their lives through accessible, high quality mental health care. Lastly, our mission is ensure that no one is denied mental wellness support due to financial barriers.

Mississippi is one of the most uninsured states in America, according to new data published by  The U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. In 2023, Mississippi had a 10.5% uninsured rate, with 296,200 individuals lacking health insurance. This is higher than the national average of 8.0%. Additionally, a significant portion of Mississippi residents were underinsured, meaning they had private health insurance but faced high out-of-pocket costs or faced challenges in accessing necessary medical care.
